Folio 76v: Tactical Execution of Zheng He using Navy Strategy with Mons Meg

Dear faithful readers, thank you for sticking with us through all the years we’ve been publishing the translations of the Voynich Manuscript, one folio at a time. My dad Dr. Wayne R. Tucker has been my amazing lab partner in all that is the Voynich. We have known what the Voynich Manuscript really was for a very long time. Though, we have skirted around it’s real intent because it is a history so extreme, Governments would go to great lengths to burn almost all records of its existence and anything leading up to it. Though, not all records where burned and so, we very carefully with 50 plus years in archeological work in this region have been able to piece together what really happened on Zheng He’s last voyage and execution through the eyes of the authors of MS 408.

Yale MS 408 aka Voynich Manuscript are a set of Navy nautical maps with tactics and strategy on how to sail to the South China Sea and lure Zheng He into open waters where he would be executed. Many Folio’s in the manuscript refer to this intent but not directly. With Folio 76v there is no way around it. The language is very clear, the South China Sea is where the battle against Zheng He would begin. They would first take out watch towers in what we call today Vietnam the Thap Doi Towers, secondly they would take out Luzon’s Port of Manila. After which moving on to the East side of Taiwan in Folio 77r to shoot at and provoke Zheng He to follow them. Before I go any further a bit about Mons Meg and Zheng He history.

Mons Meg and MS 408: The authors of the Voynich refer to a cannon several times throughout, based on calculations written in the Voynich we concluded that the cannon referenced could only be Mons Meg. Mons Meg is one of two bombards of its class manufactured in the early 15^th century. Both still exist. Mons Meg was engineered for a ship and the other bombard “Red Devil” was engineered for a castle. Due to this fact we are focusing only on Mons Meg as the bombard in question. 

In a letter written by Sir Walter Scott, King Henry IV commissioned the McLellan’s of Galloway Scotland to build Mons Meg. In Galloway Scotland, Kirkcudbright Bay Harbour logs record that Mons Meg was turned over to the Kings Artillery in 1448. Its distinction was that it was the largest breech loaded cannon ever built. According to GOOGLE it used 400 pounds of black powder to fire a two-foot boulder of basalt half a league. (2.64 kilometers) This is the largest range a bombard will ever have, though history records that it was not very accurate, used more to scare than anything else. Folio 76V depicts the loading and firing instructions for Mons Meg.

• According to GOOGLE Mons Meg took about 400 pounds of black powder to load Mons Meg. 
• There are 22 tallies and a keg of black powder weighs 20 pounds. 22 x 20 = 440 pounds.
• Upper right-hand nymph shows- fifty tallies coming from her hands. These tallie marks are also on Folio 75v with the same radius and distance, drawn in the center going upwards towards the right with the blue ball as the bombing location.
• Mons Meg was 2.6 Km which converts to 0.47 nautical leagues
• A nautical league equals 6,080 feet or two strides of a person walking. A tradition started and used since the Greek and Roman era.

CONCLUSION:

• The stated range of Mons Meg was 2.6 Km, or ½ a nautical league
• The stated maximum load was 400 pounds of Black Powder.
• The tallies marks of MS408 shows the same tally numerous times.
• Other Folio’s (37R and 38R) show how the bombard was deployed and why.

The accuracy of MS408 and the stated limits of Mons Meg is 100%, 30% being just random noise. As a mathematician I can say without reservation that the bombard depicted in MS408 is MONS MEG.

HISTORY of ZHENG HE AND CONNECTION in MS 408

Zheng He was a fierce admiral of China, his sea voyages would be published as the greatest admiral to have ever lived. As a child he became deathly ill after being stung by a bee, he would develop a great fear and allergy towards bee stings. Though, with every voyage he would become more and more fierce to the extent even his government began to fear him. It is written in the Chinese “Records of the Grand Historian” that Zheng He would chase spies in his last voyage only to be poisoned as sea. Zheng He does have a tomb in China but some historians speculate if he was actually ever laid to rest. After his death, his records would be destroyed.

Chin (Qin) An fu was the imperial capital of China until about 1440. After this time foreign dignitaries would sign a treaty of peace in which the conditions of the agreement was the main port Qjn an fu would gradually dwindled and cease being the main Chinese trading port. Today, Zhung he’s home port is abandoned, where the main port is Shang hi.

Reference to Mons Meg and Zheng He in MS 408.

1. Folio 1R: A call to request someone to undergo a year long voyage around the world to protect trade in Europe and save Europe from continued death and plagues.

5. 37V: where Zheng He died after being poisoned, off the coast of India. Tactical words on this page: wasp, shown to be weak, salt cellar, attack, willing to act, distract, they had promised to go, universal. Other words used in this region was mayfly, an aquatic insect with a short lifespan.
6. 43V: Cannon Ball on a Brass Monkey Tray drawn lightly on the bottom right side.
7. 44R: In this folio and other Japan is seen as inspiration, a gift to encourage, partners and long time legal associates.
8. 33V and 40R maps are connected from Sri Lanka to Mozambique Channel. This would depict the South Equatorial Current which was Zheng He’s secondary fleet’s route. (This observation was made on Facebook by Mark Moiseevich.)

Zheng He’s Fleet Configuration

Below are images of Zhung he’s treasure fleet and war ships. Note, its width would have been 1600 meters with the war ships using the finest weaponry, including cannons. From front to back the fleets formation would have measured 9000 meters, or 0.7 x 2.1 miles. To attack such a heavily armed armada the attackers would have needed a cannon or bombard with a range of one plus miles. There was only one weapon with that range, Mons Meg.

Ethnobotany: Viola Odorata, aka. English Violet. Many cultures have folklore regarding the violet. It is most associated as the flower of change, transformation, transition, and the cycle of death-an-rebirth. In Christianity it is seen as protection. In Folio 76v the viola odorata was used to illustrate mons meg cannon ball.

Translation into English:
I am being oppressed, I am bringing them forth, drawing them out to start to battle N 11.25° region (bearing = (1) 30-sec of a circle 11.25°.)
